My journey with braiding hair began when I was just 13 years old, growing up in Southwest Atlanta. What started as a simple skill passed between family and friends quickly became a passion, a purpose, and eventually a calling. In my community, hair was more than style—it was connection, culture, and care. That early exposure shaped not only my craft but my character.
As the oldest daughter, responsibility came early. I learned how to lead, nurture, and provide support long before adulthood. Those lessons showed up in everything I did, including my dedication to perfecting my braiding technique. I practiced on anyone who would sit in my chair—siblings, cousins, neighbors—always striving to get faster, neater, and more creative. Each head of hair taught me patience, discipline, and pride in my work.
Growing up in Southwest Atlanta instilled resilience in me. I watched strong women balance family, work, and dreams, and I knew I wanted to follow that same path. Braiding became my outlet and my hustle. Even as life brought challenges, my hands never forgot the movement, the patterns, and the peace that came with creating beauty.
Today, I carry those same values into motherhood as the proud mother of four daughters. Being their example is one of my greatest motivations. Just as I once watched the women before me, my girls now watch me—learning the importance of skill, independence, and self-belief. My journey with hair is no longer just mine; it’s a legacy I pass down through love, work ethic, and creativity.
From a 13-year-old girl braiding hair in Southwest Atlanta to a woman balancing motherhood and passion, my story is one of growth, perseverance, and purpose. Braiding has always been more than hair to me—it’s been a foundation, a blessing, and a lifelong journey.
